As a web developer, I have seen a lot of changes in the industry over the years. One trend that has been growing rapidly and has become an increasingly important part of the web development process is the use of automation. It is true that automation tools and processes can speed up the development process, reduce human error, and improve code quality and consistency. However, while it has certainly brought a lot of benefits to the field, I often find myself wondering about the impact it has on human creativity. And as a creative person who values the human touch in my work, I've started to question whether automation in web development is really the best way forward or the way to a loss of innovation, flexibility, and job opportunities.

i think i’m a decently early adopter. But I agree with the sentiment that it’s still too early to own one. I want to own the v2,v3 version of this thing, when people have: a) figure out the best way to utilize the device (right now, Apple wants it to be “productivity”, but i’m perfectly happy with my current suit and b) trained our brain/muscle/neuron enough to utilize a no flat screen reality and no typing reality. It takes time for us to get used to typing on the phone and on the computer, it will be some time too until we can get used to staring and squeezing our fingers. Not to mention strapping the thing around everywhere blocking our peripheral vision. I AM however very excited about the immersive 3D stuff when it comes to home video possibilities. That stuff seems to be made of science fiction and very, very promising indeed.

I wrote [this story on HackerNoon](https://hackernoon.com/threads-might-be-zucks-smartest-business-move-since-instagram) on Friday, 48-ish hours after Zuck launched threads when they were at around 60M users, in which i said "they will reach 100M users any day now".

4 days. That's how long it took them to get to 100M. 😱

For reference, here's how long it took some platforms to get there:

* Twitter: 5 years 5 months
* Facebook: 4 years 6 months
* Snapchat: 3 years 8 months
* Instagram: 2 years 4 months
* Tiktok: 9 months
* ChatGPT: 5 weeks

Now, reaching 100M users is not a guarantee that your platform will succeed. Google+ did it in 1 year ish and is now largely irrelevant. Yet, the speed at which 100M humans flock and flock FAST to a new platform because a billionaire with a bruised ego deteriorates their beloved platform so badly is nothing short of astonishing.

i have only seen 1 company who outwardly specifies so in their policy (basecamp) that they don’t want employees to discuss politics. I think it is a much easier said than done thing. 

Yup it’s gonna disrupt so many industries and many careers greatly. We have 2 choices: either lean on to it or be crushed by it. As an optimist I choose the former. There has never been a more important to be an intentional, sharp, and original writer. Mediocre, hell, even quite good writing, is totally achievable by AI

My favorite thing it created to date:

Prompt: Reimagine the pledge of allegiance as a sarcastic roast

Answer: 

I pledge allegiance to the flag, of the United States of America

And to the republic, for which it stands

One nation, under God, indivisible

With liberty and justice, for all

Oh wait, except for those who don't look like us

Or those who don't pray to the same God as us

Or those who don't have the same amount of money as us

Because apparently, liberty and justice aren't for everyone

But hey, at least we have a shiny flag to look at

And a catchy little phrase to repeat

Never mind the hypocrisy and injustice

Let's just blindly pledge our loyalty

After all, it's not like our actions and policies

Should align with our words and ideals

Nah, let's just keep pretending

That we're this great and noble nation

But hey, at least we're better than those other countries

The ones with the different flags and the different pledges

Because as we all know, patriotism means never having to think for ourselves

And conformity is the true path to freedom.

Some caveat: when asked to “write a story with maximum 4-5 characters and 10 sentences that a 5 year old who can only spell things phonetically can read” 4-5 times it keeps giving me beautiful stories that are too long and contain way many words that are much longer than 4-5 characters. I think it has a bias for natural sounding language over exact character counts of words or sentences.

Raising Kids And A Startup

Thanks for sharing your story with us! David and I run HackerNoon and also just had our second kid (turning 1 month tomorrow). What I’ve learned thus far is to temper our expectations. Things are usually not as urgent as they seem, especially when you zoom out.
